How satisfied were the big 3 by the treaty of Versailles?

Clemenceau was largely satisfied by the terms of the treaty of Versailles as he achieved most of his aims such as making Germany too weak to attack again. Germany was forced to pay huge reparations of £6.6 billion and was forced to limit its army to 100,000 soldiers. These pleased Clemenceau as it meant that Germany's economy was significantly weakened and France was being given the money they need to repair the country and the limited army mean they were not able to fight back and so the country was easier to control from the outside.  However, France was hoping to gain more; and from Germany to increase its own empire and although they did not gain the land it was still taken away from Germany which weakened the country.  Overall Clemenceau achieved most of his aims at the treaty of Versailles and was mostly satisfied by the terms.

David Lloyd George was greatly satisfied by the treaty of Versailles as he managed to achieve most of his aims. He managed to talk Clemenceau out of punishing Germany too harshly which meant England was free to trade with Germany, this was a massive part of Georges aims; he did still believe that the reparations were too high and that this would cause trouble in the future, but at the current moment that did not worry him. However, as part of his promise to the country, Germany was still punished which meant the population of the country was happy, this benefited Lloyd George and made him happier with the terms. The navy was also destroyed which meant England was much safer from another attack by Germany. David Lloyd George was greatly satisfied with the terms as he managed to please both the population and still continue trading with Germany which helped boost the economy.

Wilson was somewhat satisfied with the treaty of Versailles. He achieved his goal of setting up the league of nations which was one of his largest aims, however, the USA was not allowed to be a member which disappointed him greatly. One of his other aims was to achieve self-determination for all countries however this was not achieved to the scale he wanted, only a few small states gained independence and just like David Lloyd George, he believed the reparations were too high and would set up trouble for the future. Overall Wilson was not too happy but was somewhat satisfied with the terms. He did not achieve the independence he wanted for the colonies but he set up the league of nations which was one of his main aims.

The most satisfied leader was Clemenceau as he massively weekends the country, through both making them pay huge reparations and almost entirely destroying their army. This ensured they were humiliated by the result of the treaty and meant they would definitely not be able to attack France again.

Woodrow Wilson was least satisfied as he did not achieve the greater independence he had hoped for and was not allowed to enter the US as a member of the league of nations. He also believed the reparations were too high and would cause problem in the future. He did note achieve many of his aims
